about

I am a strategic Product Designer with extensive experience, currently specializing in healthcare and telehealth solutions. I create user-centered designs that simplify complex information, enhance accessibility, and deliver intuitive experiences for diverse user groups. Passionate about design as both a craft and a mindset, I believe successful design follows such tenets as design with purpose, empathy is foundational, form follows function, collaboration is core, and design is never done.

My other passions are travel and animals of all kinds. I have been all around the world and always seem to find the resident animals in every country. You see here the mountain gorillas in Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda and the penguins in Cape Town, South Africa.

Design with Purpose

Good product design starts with a user-first mindset, solving real problems for real people while aligning every decision with product and business goals. Simplicity reduces cognitive load through clarity and focus and a balance of qualitative insights with quantitative data results in informed decisions that create meaningful value.

Empathy is Foundational

Building successful products requires a thorough understanding of the user through research, observation, and listening. It should be inclusive, consider diverse backgrounds and be accessible. Designing context-aware products takes into consideration user environments, limitations, and motivations since these impact how people interact with products.

Form Follows Function

Usability takes precedence over aesthetics, but quality is non-negotiable because polish is part of the experience, not decoration added later. Leveraging consistency builds familiarity that breeds trust and reduces friction. While form follows function, well-crafted form is crucial for a successful solution.

Collaboration is Core

Cross-functional collaboration should be the default, partnering with product, engineering, research, and stakeholders. Design is a team sport requiring critique with kindness and defending decisions with humility. Share work early and often to prevent misalignment and foster collective ownership.

Design is Never Done

Design is inherently iterative. Always design, test, learn, repeat. Continuous improvement means constantly asking "How could this be better?" Create feedback loops for user and internal input post-release. Stay open to new information and evolving user needs rather than rigidly adhering to initial assumptions.

I had the pleasure of working alongside Kelly and managing her for nearly 5 years during my time at Amwell and I watched her grow from a senior UI designer into an exceptional lead product designer. She played a pivotal role in advancing many key initiatives that included tackling early efforts around product accessibility, new consumer offerings, SDK apps and many of our new offerings, including the Administrative experience.

Her passion for UX is reflected in her eagerness to take on new challenges, embracing the complexity of design problems and the process of unraveling them with curiosity and determination. Her design work is thoughtful, well-organized, and always grounded in process, supported by her strong organizational skills.

Kelly is also a natural leader, eager to work with others and regularly offer mentorship to junior team members. She is always taking initiative and is willing to speak up and ask the tough questions when they are needed. Her determination, strong work ethic, and high design standards makes her a true asset to any team lucky enough to have her.

I had the privilege of working with Kelly for 5 years at Amwell. Kelly was an exceptional designer with a rare combination of design vision and pragmatism that made her uniquely effective. My team and Kelly developed a great collaborative relationship, and we could always count on her to consistently deliver on commitments during fast-paced, business-critical projects. I was also impressed with her commitment to continued education, often embracing new technology to enhance her work. Finally, her enthusiasm and advocacy for our users made her the ideal partner for a product team. I would love to work with Kelly again.

Kelly is one of the best design partners I have ever had the pleasure of working side by side with and my team praised the work she did and her highly collaborative approach. She was constantly looking to improve the UX/UI process and was a great advocate for efficiency improvements and incorporating design best practices earlier in the SDLC..improving time to market and creating amazing UX that delighted customers. I highly recommend Kelly for her design expertise, thought leadership, and collaborative approach to design-first. Kelly would excel in any role where research and design are key differentiators in customer-facing UI products.
